Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper moves to Frankfurt

Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed Kevin Trapp has returned to German side Eintracht Frankfurt on a season-long loan deal.

The Ligue 1 giants signed Trapp from Frankfurt in 2015 but the Germany international has dropped down the pecking order in the last few years.

Trapp lost his place in the team to Alphonse Areola last season and Gianluigi Buffon’s arrival this summer pushed him further down the pecking order.

The 28-year-old wouldn't have even made the matchday squad for PSG this summer but has secured a return to Germany to resurrect his career.

Lukas Hradecky was Frankfurt’s No.1 goalkeeper last season but the 28-year-old joined Bayer Leverkusen over the summer.

Frederik Ronnow started Frankfurt’s first game between the sticks and was superb, garnering a WhoScored rating of 8.28 in a 2-0 win away to Freiburg.

The 26-year-old will likely keep his place in the team this weekend but will struggle to fend off competition from Trapp after the international break.

Trapp kept 34 clean sheets in 63 Ligue 1 appearances for PSG during his three years at the club.
