Real Madrid target Paris Saint-Germain star

Real Madrid are interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani, reports Spanish outlet AS.

The European giants need to make a serious splash in the transfer market after selling Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus earlier this summer.

Madrid have been heavily linked with a move for Chelsea star Eden Hazard but appear resigned in missing out on the Belgium international.

Chelsea are determined not to sell their talisman and will ensure Madrid pay in the region of £200m to secure his services.

Julen Lopetegui’s side are now considering a move for PSG striker Cavani, who is reportedly open to the idea of moving to Spain.

Cavani is a fan favourite at PSG but his departure would certainly solve a problem at the club.

There were times last season where Cavani and Neymar’s relationship appeared close to breaking point.

Both are battling for top spot at the club, while Neymar naturally takes that spot due to the fact he is the most expensive player in world football.

The 31-year-old’s current PSG deal isn’t due to expire until 2020 and Madrid will reportedly have to pay in excess of €100m (£88.8m) for his services.

Cavani finished last season as the top scorer in Ligue 1, netting 28 goals in 32 appearances for the French champions.
