Manchester United target only available for €100m

Torino president Urbano Cairo has reiterated Manchester United target Andrea Belotti is only available to leave the club if his €100m (£88m) release clause is triggered this summer.

Belotti has been heavily linked with a move to United and AC Milan in recent weeks as both sides look to bolster their offensive options ahead of the coming season.

Milan have already had a £39m bid for the Italy international turned down but are now on the verge of signing Porto striker Andre Silva, which would seemingly put an end to their interest in Belotti for now.

However, any side looking to sign the 23-year-old this summer will have to match his stunning release clause and even then Cairo believes the striker would turn down the chance to leave Torino.

“Belotti is on international duty and on Thursday he’s getting married - he invited me,” Cairo told Radio 24, via Football Italia.

“I care about Belotti and I’m keeping hold of him. He has a contract with Toro until 2021. I would only sell him for €100m, but even then he can refuse.

“The most important thing is what he wants, regardless of the release clause, and I think he wants to stay.”

United would appear to be the only side in with a realistic chance of signing Belotti this summer but even then it remains to be seen whether Jose Mourinho would give the green light to making the Italian one of the most expensive players of all-time.

The Premier League giants are hopeful of securing a £60m deal for Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata this summer but Mourinho also wants to sign Belotti, although he may be forced to look at alternatives.

Only Edin Dzeko (29) and Dries Mertens (28) scored more goals in Serie A last season than Belotti (26).
