Juventus summer signing out for a month

Juventus have announced they will be without summer signing Benedikt Howedes for up to a month due to a thigh injury.

Howedes joined Juventus from Schalke over the summer after losing the captain’s armband at the Bundesliga club, but is yet to feature for the Old Lady this season.

The 29-year-old has struggled with injury since arriving and now Juventus have confirmed he will be sidelined for the next four weeks after sustaining a thigh injury in Thursday’s training.

“During Thursday’s training session, Benedikt Howedes sustained a thigh strain in his left leg affecting an area of scar tissue from a previous injury,” a statement read on the club’s official website.

“Initial examinations suggest it is a Grade 1-2 strain and the estimated recovery time is around four weeks. A more precise recovery time will be established in due course following daily monitoring of the player and further diagnostic tests.”

It means Howedes could miss Juventus’ next five matches, which includes matches against Olympiacos, Atalanta, Lazio, Sporting CP and Udinese.
