Stoke prepared to sell club record signing

Stoke are ready to sell club record signing Giannelli Imbula in the summer after just more than 12 months at the club, reports The Daily Telegraph.

The Potters splashed out more than £18m to sign the midfielder from Porto at the end of the January transfer window in 2016 but Imbula’s arrival has failed to have the desired effect for Mark Hughes’ side.

Imbula has even dropped below the likes of Charlie Adam in the pecking order at Stoke this season and Hughes is now prepared to sell the 24-year-old at the end of the season, although the club want to recoup as much of their original investment as possible.

The French midfielder was linked with a move to Roma and Marseille last summer but his plight this season may mean a transfer to a club of that stature is now on the backburner, although a loan move away from Stoke has not been ruled out.

Imbula has only started nine Premier League games this season and is Stoke’s lowest rated player in the league from those to have started at least five games (6.40).
