Paul Pogba has stepped up his return from a hamstring injury and Manchester United are hopeful he will be fit to play against Swansea in the League Cup on October 24, claims The Independent.
The France international has missed United’s last five matches after limping off 19 minutes into United’s 3-0 win over Basel in the Champions League at the start of September.
Jose Mourinho feared Pogba’s second hamstring injury since returning to Old Trafford would keep the midfielder sidelined for the foreseeable future and United even explored whether surgery was required.
However, Pogba has stepped up a vigorous rehabilitation process and is now hopeful of returning to first-team action by the end of the month when United travel to Wales to face Swansea in the next round of the League Cup.
It means that the 24-year-old will miss United’s next three matches, which are away matches against Liverpool, Benfica and Huddersfield.
Pogba enjoyed a fantastic start to the season before succumbing to injury and remains the highest rated player in the Premier League (4+ appearances) after playing a direct hand in four goals in as many games (8.09 rating).
