Newcastle ponder move for Joe Hart

Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez is interested in handing Joe Hart an escape route from West Ham to salvage his World Cup spot, claims The Daily Mail.

Hart is currently on loan at West Ham but the England international has lost his starting spot to Adrian at the London Stadium.

Benitez was interested in securing Hart’s services before the Manchester City goalkeeper joined West Ham and is now hoping to lure him to St. James’ Park this month.

The Newcastle manager would first need West Ham and Ciy to agree to terminate Hart’s loan deal and then the Magpies would need to find a compromise on the 30-year-old’s salary with Pep Guardiola’s side.

Benitez has failed to settle on a No.1 goalkeeper this season after switching between Rob Elliot and Karl Darlow throughout the season.

Hart has endured a nightmare season since joining West Ham and is currently on course to lose his No.1 spot for England ahead of the 2018 World Cup.

The West Ham goalkeeper has conceded 30 goals in 15 matches this season, keeping just three clean sheets in that time.
