Lyon director Bernard Lacombe has revealed the club hope Alexandre Lacazette bats away interest from rival clubs to stay with the Ligue 1 outfit over the summer.
The France international has been in superb form this season and is expected to be subject to huge interest in the summer after turning down the chance to leave Lyon last summer.
Lacazette has previously been linked with a move to Arsenal, while Atletico Madrid are also reported to be chasing his signature, and Lyon direct Lacombe has revealed his departure would be hard for the club to overcome.
“The departure of Alex would be very difficult for our club,” Lacombe told RMC. “Because even if we could make lots of money, he is an immense player and I do not think that we will understand the magnitude of his departure fully until it happens.
“Then, it will be a lot more difficult for us, even if we make a good decision on the replacement that would come in. I don’t know which team he will go. I hope for only one thing, that he will stay with us for another year, or tow, because is an immense player.”
Lacazette, 25, has been in tremendous form and he could end up firing Lyon to the Europa League title after helping them overcome one of the tournament favourites Roma in the last round.
However, it’s in Ligue 1 where he has made his biggest impact. Only Edinson Cavani (27) has scored more goals in France’s top flight than the Lyon ace this season (24).
