West Ham manager Slaven Bilic has revealed star midfielder Dimitri Payet is close to signing a new deal with the club.
Payet, 28, still has four years left to run on the deal he signed when he joined from Marseille in the summer but West Ham are keen to ward off any interest in their talisman at the end of the season by giving him an improved deal.
The France international has recently been subject of interest from China, but Bilic has confirmed the creator is now very close to agreeing to his improved terms.
“I think we are very close to Dimitri signing a new contract. Both parties have the same intention and that is to stay at West Ham,” Bilic is quoted as saying by the London Evening Standard.
Since the start of the season, only three players have created more chances in the Premier League than Payet (66) despite missing a large chunk of the festive period through injury.
