Tottenham set to hand key forward a new deal

Tottenham are keen to reward Heung-min Son with an improvement on his current £60,000-a-week deal, claims the London Evening Standard.

Son has developed into a key player under Mauricio Pochettino since joining from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015.

The 25-year-old’s existing deal is due to expire in 2020 and Tottenham want to reward the South Korea international with new terms to reflect his growing importance.

Tottenham have a number of key players entering crucial stages of their current deals with the club and Daniel Levy is keen to avoid a scenario Arsenal encountered with Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil last summer.

Given the fact onnly Harry Kane (25) has scored more Premier League goals than Son (8) for Tottenham this season, it's unsurprising that Son averages a solid 7.30 WhoScored rating across league and European competition when factoring in his performances from starts alone this season.
