LA Galaxy acquire former Schalke midfielder

LA Galaxy have announced they have acquired the rights to sign midfielder Jermaine Jones from Colorado Rapids in exchange for the club’s 2017 1st round MLS SuperDraft pick.

Jones, 35, has spent the last nine months with the Rapids after joining from New England Revolution in March 2016 and featured 13 times for Pablo Mastroeni’s side.

However, the German-born midfielder, who spent 14 seasons in the Bundesliga with the likes of Bayer Leverkusen, Frankfurt and Schalke, has now made the switch to the Galaxy, who are looking to add big names to their squad following the departures of Steven Gerrard and Robbie Keane.

Of players to have featured in at least five games in MLS last season, only four players averaged more fouls per game than Jones (2.2).
