Barcelona winger Neymar has voiced his desire for national teammate Philippe Coutinho to join him at the Nou Camp in the future.
The Brazil international has arguably been Liverpool’s brightest player since the start of last season and Neymar has revealed that Coutinho would be his favoured Brazilian to link up with at club level.
“Are there any Brazilians who could play at Barca? Many. I’d like Coutinho,” Neymar is quoted as saying by Sport.
Coutinho, 23, only signed a new five-year deal at Liverpool in February but their early season form already gives bleak reading to their chances of qualifying for the Champions League next season.
It would therefore not be surprising to see the highly-rated Brazilian become hot property in the summer and follow an alarming trend at Liverpool that has seen their best players leave each season following the departure of Raheem Sterling over the summer and Luis Suarez - who also joined Barcelona - the year before.
Since the turn of the year only Yaya Toure and Jason Puncheon (both 4) have scored more goals from outside the box in the Premier League than Coutinho (3).
