West Brom set to offer Berahino new deal

West Brom are prepared to offer wantaway striker Saido Berahino a new contract, according to the Sunday People.

The English frontman had looked destined for the Hawthorns exit after Tottenham launched no fewer than four bids for the player during the final weeks of the summer transfer window.

Berahino has since threatened to go on strike in order to force a move away from the club in January, but chairman Jeremy Peace wants to mend the frayed relationship between the player and himself.

Any new deal could double his wages at the club and increase his minimum fee release clause to £25m as Peace looks to the best interests of West Brom.

It remains to be seen whether Spurs will renew their interest in Berahino once the transfer window reopens, with the north London side having recruited Clinton N’Jie and Heung-Min Son over the summer.

Despite this, many supporters feel the club was left short in attack, with Harry Kane the only out-and-out striker available to manager Mauricio Pochettino after Emmanuel Adebayor was not included in either their Premier League or Europa League squad list.
