Neuer considering his Bayern Munich future, says agent

The agent of Manuel Neuer has sensationally revealed his client is considering his future at Bayern Munich.

Neuer has spent the last eight years at Bayern and still has two years left to run on his current deal but is not overly satisfied at the state of affairs at the club.

The 33-year-old is concerned by the ambition of the club after a relatively quiet summer of transfer dealings thus far.

Bayern have lost several high profile players this summer and have struggled to nail down their first choice targets.

Mats Hummels, Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben have all left Bayern this summer and have only managed to recruit Lucas Hernandez and Benjamin Pavard - two deals done midway through last season.

Bayern appear to have missed out on Premier League duo Callum Hudson-Odoi and Leroy Sane and Neuer’s agent, Thomas Kroth, has hinted the veteran goalkeeper could leave if things do not improve.

“Manuel is success-oriented,” he told Suddeutsche Zeitung. “My impression is that the gap to the top four English top teams is already serious and the Munich squad is currently not yet as competitive or set up to tackle Manuel’s goals seriously.

“When he realises that Bayern are responding, then he will probably blossom again. He does not want to retire in 2021. Now he is in the phase in which he has to decide: how will things progress in the future.

“Signing a contract extension and ending his career at Bayern is of course the obvious option, but it’s not the only one.”

Neuer has struggled with several serious injuries in the last few years and his own form was well below his usual best last term.

In fact, of goalkeepers that made at least 20 Bundesliga appearances last season, Neuer had the worst save success rate (57.7%).
