Inter will launch a summer move for Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic if they secure Champions League football for next season, claims SPORT.
Rakitic’s future at Barcelona has been plunged into doubt after being pictured at a festival less than 24 hours after the club’s humiliating Champions League semi-final exit to Liverpool.
Barcelona will reportedly have to sell three marquee names this summer in order to fund moves for the likes of Frankie de Jong, Matthijs de Ligt and Antoine Griezmann.
Rakitic has previously been linked with a move to Manchester United but it has now emerged that Inter have their eyes on the 31-year-old.
Inter wanted to sign his international team-mate Luka Modric last summer and were thought to be close to prising the World’s Best Player away from Real Madrid.
However, the Serie A giants have now set their sights on Rakitic in a deal worth up to €50m, though a summer move hinges on whether they are in the Champions League next season.
Rakitic has spent the last five seasons at Barcelona after joining from Sevilla in the summer of 2014, playing a direct hand in 35 goals in 167 league games for the club.
