West Brom in talks for £12m-rated Southampton forward

West Ham have rekindled their interest in Southampton forward Jay Rodriguez and hope to conclude a £12m deal before the end of the month, reports The Daily Telegraph.

The 27-year-old is free to leave Southampton this summer and it’s been suggested that a £12m deal would be enough to prize the former England international away from Saint Mary’s.

Tony Pulis’ side have tried to sign Rodriguez in each of the last two transfer windows and the versatile forward reportedly prefers the idea of joining West Brom to Newcastle, who are also interested.

Rodriguez appeared to be destined for a bright career when he scored 15 Premier League goals in the 2013/14 campaign. However, a serious knee injury in April 2014 ruled him out for more than 12 months and he hasn’t managed to rediscover his best form since then.

In fact, Rodriguez has only featured in 18% of Southampton’s Premier League matches in the last two season and was forced to make 15 appearances as a substitute last season under Claude Puel, who was sacked at the end of the season.
