Atletico Madrid boss rules out move for Serie A striker
Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has ruled out a move to sign his son, Giovanni Simeone, from Fiorentina.
Giovanni capped his Argentina debut with a goal at the weekend and there have been suggestions of a big money move around the corner.
Atletico were one of the sides reportedly keen on signing the 23-year-old, but Simeone has ruled out ever signing his own son.
“My son has everything to play under me, but I will never sign him,” he told Cadena Cope on Monday night, via Football Espana.
“Unfortunately, I’m never going to sign him for my team, I never want to totally rule the possibility out on one hand but it would be very difficult to have a son in the locker room.
“It would be difficult for him, for me, for the relationship… and besides, right now he is doing great, maybe one day I’m not at Atletico, maybe he can come.”
Giovanni only signed for Fiorentina in 2017 and has been a huge success for the Serie A outfit.
The Argentina international has scored 15 goals in 40 league appearance and also provided five assists in that time, decisive every two outings.
