Zlatan Ibrahimovic teases ‘big announcement’ about his future

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has revealed there will be a huge announcement made imminently about his future.

The 35-year-old is currently a free agent after being released by Manchester United at the end of last season and isn’t expected to recover from a serious knee injury until later this year.

It was initially feared that Ibrahimovic would not make a full recovery until early 2018 but his rehabilitation has gone better than anyone previously imagined and there are even reports suggesting he could return to training as early as October.

Ibrahimovic had a four-hour meeting with his agent, Mino Raiola, in Manchester earlier this week and the former Sweden international has now told reporters to expect big news shortly.

“There will be a very big announcement soon, it will be huge,” ESPN quote Ibrahimovic as saying after leaving restaurant Tattu in central Manchester on Wednesday.

United manager Jose Mourinho wanted Ibrahimovic to stay beyond 12 months at Old Trafford before he suffered a career-threatening injury in April and there have been suggestions he will be offered a new deal after making such good progress in his recovery.

However, LA Galaxy are also understood to be in talks with the former Paris Saint-Germain striker and are desperate to land the veteran striker, in what would arguably be one of Major League Soccer’s biggest ever signings.

Despite only moving to United last summer and only managing to play nine months of the season, Ibrahimovic has still scored more Premier League goals than any other United player over the last two campaigns (17).

However, Ibrahimovic also missed at least five more clear-cut chances than any other player in the Premier League last term (18).
