Leverkusen forward out until 2017

Bayer Leverkusen have announced Karim Bellarabi will undergo surgery on Wednesday to correct his adductor muscle injury and will be out for the rest of the year.

Bellarabi, 26, sustained the tear to his right leg in the opening five minutes of Leverkusen’s second league match of the season against Hamburg.

The Germany international was replaced by Julian Brandt in their 3-1 win last weekend and Leverkusen have now confirmed he will not feature until the New Year.

“Following extensive checks and consultation, Karim Bellarabi and Bayer Leverkusen have decided for the players to undergo surgery,” the club said in a statement, via Marca.

“The 26-year-old international will not be available for the rest of 2016.”

In the last four Bundesliga campaigns only Raffael (339) has completed more dribbles than Bellarabi (331).
