Chelsea approach West Ham about permanent Carroll deal

Chelsea have approached West Ham in regards to signing Andy Carroll on a permanent deal this month, reports Sky Sports.

Antonio Conte is determined to sign another striker this month to help ease the goalscoring burden on main frontman Alvaro Morata.

The Chelsea manager failed to reunite with Fernando Llorente in the summer and has now turned his attention to making a shock move for Carroll.

West Ham manager David Moyes insisted after their 1-0 win over Shrewsbury on Tuesday night that he had no knowledge of Chelsea’s interest in Carroll, but the Hammers are reportedly open to offers for their No.9.

Carroll is keen to join Chelsea this month and a bid in the region of £20m should be enough to prise the former England international to Stamford Bridge.

The 29-year-old’s arrival would also pave the way for Michy Batshuayi to join Sevilla on loan for the remainder of the season, having failed to make any impression on Conte since joining 18 months ago.

Carroll has only scored two goals in 12 Premier League appearances this season, but only three players are winning more aerial duels per game than the West Ham front man (5.8).

As a move to Chelsea gathers pace, now is the time to invest in Carroll on Football INDEX. His share price has already increased 20.22% in the last 24 hours and will only continue to rise as speculation intensifies.
