One Barcelona star misses out with Ronaldo making the cut

The much-talked of MSN fails to make the grade in this week’s La Liga Team of the Week, with Neymar the one to miss out from the Barcelona trident.

The Brazilian’s WhoScored rating (9.30) means he misses out on a spot on the left wing this week, with Cristiano Ronaldo the man to take his place.

Ronaldo gained a perfect 10 in Real Madrid’s 4-2 win over Athletic Club, with two goals, one assist and three successful dribbles contributing to his rating.

Of course, Luis Suarez stars having bagged a hat-trick in Barcelona’s 6-1 thumping of Celta Vigo, the Uruguyan’s third hat-trick in his last seven appearances.

Suarez has now contributed to a stunning 19 goals in his last eight competitive outings for the Blaugrana and has scored the most competitive goals (34) in Europe’s top five leagues this season.

However, he would not have reached that figure had it not been for Lionel Messi, who selflessly sacrificed his 300th La Liga goal in order to provide the assist for Suarez’s hat-trick goal.

It wasn’t just any conventional assist, however, with Messi opting to pass from the penalty spot for Suarez to net from close range.

There was also room in the XI for Valencia right-back Joao Cancelo, who provided the assist for Alvaro Negredo's second half equaliser as Gary Neville secured his first league win in charge of Los Che.
