Rotherham sack Stubbs

Rotherham have announced they have sacked manager Alan Stubbs after 14 matches in charge.

The Millers have made a disastrous start to the season under Stubbs and are currently bottom of the Championship and a long way from safety already.

This is Rotherham’s third straight season in England’s second-tier and they have announced they will now be looking for a new manager as they look to preserve their status in the division.

“Rotherham United have parted company with first team manager Alan Stubbs, assistant manager John Doolan and first team coach Andy Holden with immediate effect,” a statement read on their official website.

“Following a board meeting this morning it was felt that a change of first team management was needed to give the club the best possible opportunity to preserve our Championship status.”

Rotherham are currently on the current longest losing streak in the Championship, having lost each of their last six league matches. They are already six points adrift of safety and haven’t won a game since August (vs Brentford).
