West Ham have given Slaven Bilic the next two matches to prove he is the manager to lead the club going forward, reports Sky Sports.
Bilic is fighting for his job following West Ham’s abysmal 3-0 defeat at home to Brighton on Friday but the board are not looking to make any knee-jerk decisions.
The Hammers have struggled for consistency since moving into the London Stadium over 12 months ago and Bilic may count himself fortunate to still be in the job.
While West Ham are keen for Bilic to see out the remainder of the campaign at the very least, they are hugely disappointed with the club’s start to the season and will reassess Bilic’s position after the next two matches.
West Ham face a daunting London derby against Tottenham in the next round of the League Cup on Wednesday before facing relegation rivals Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Defeat in both matches will more than likely spell the end of Bilic’s reign as West Ham manager, with the club currently only above the relegation zone thanks to their superior goal difference over Everton.
West Ham have only taken 31 league points from a possible 69 at the London Stadium since the start of last season. In fact, only Swansea (30) and Crystal Palace (23) have earned fewer in that period.
