Sheffield United announce double swoop including Manchester United starlet
Sheffield United have announced the arrival of Nottingham Forest midfielder Ben Osborn and Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson.
Osborn has put pen to paper on a three-year deal with the Blades, while Henderson has re-signed with Chris Wilder’s side on a season-long loan deal.
Henderson spent last season with the Blades and played a pivotal part in their promotion from the Championship.
Wilder’s side have been locked in talks with United about re-signing the England Under-21 international all summer and have finally got a deal over the line.
“Dean was always our number one target,” Wilder told the club’s official website. “We’ve had to fight to get a good deal and that’s part and parcel of our approach in the transfer market.
“All of us, from myself, to the coaching staff, to the player and the supporters want him playing for us in the Premier League and with a lot of hard work we’ve made that happen.”
Henderson has also penned a new two-year contract extension with parent club United, keeping him tied down to Old Trafford until the summer of 2022.
Osborn and Henderson are United’s sixth and seventh new signings of the summer, as Wilder plots for Premier League survival next term.
Henderson kept more clean sheets than any other goalkeeper in the Championship last season (21).
