Spurs star could miss rest of the season

Tottenham are waiting to find out whether Dele Alli will race retrospective action after appearing to punch West Brom midfielder Claudio Yacob in Monday’s 1-1 draw at White Hart Lane.

Alli, 20, was voted PFA Young Player of the Year on Sunday following his breathtaking campaign and has been touted as someone that should start for England at the Euros in the summer.

However, the former MK Dons midfielder is now likely to miss the remainder of the season with a three-game ban likely to follow if Mike Jones failed to include the incident in his post-match report.

That would see Alli miss Tottenham’s three remaining league fixtures and would prove another dent in their pursuit of the league title after a draw was only good enough to cut Leicester’s lead at the top to six points.

No player aged 21 and under has played a direct hand in more league goals across Europe’s top five leagues this season than Alli (19).
