Atletico Madrid striker admits frustrations over form

Atletico Madrid striker Jackson Martinez has revealed his form in front of goal is starting to bother him after he drew another blank against Benfica in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Martinez made a big money move to Atletico over the summer, but has failed to score in each of his last seven outings for club and country since he netted against Sevilla at the end of August.

The 28-year-old has failed to nail down a regular starting berth in the league, having only started half of Atletico’s six La Liga matches so far this season and his form in front of goal is now starting to bother him.

“The drought is frustrating because I feel the support of the fans, teammates and coaches and want to give my best to make things right and nothing,” Martinez is quoted as saying in AS.

“Things aren’t as I would like but I will continue working for the next match, the derby. I can do better.

“Now we think about Real Madrid, correct what wasn’t done right and increase the positive things.”
