Manchester United offered midfielder to Chinese Super League side

Tianjin Quanjin manager Fabio Cannavaro has revealed Manchester United offered his side Marouane Fellaini but the club were after a different sort of player last month.

Chinese Super League sides were able to add to their squads up until Tuesday’s transfer deadline last week and Cannavaro’s side were one of the most active in the build up as they looked to add big names to their team for the new season.

Cannavaro’s side failed to sign a marquee striker from Europe and the Tianjin manager has now claimed his side were offered Fellaini’s services, only to turn down the Belgium international.

“He was offered to me, but I told his agent that I was looking for a different profile,” The Daily Mail quote Cannavaro as saying.

Fellaini only signed a new one-year extension with United in January keeping him at the club until the end of next season and is a player that manager Jose Mourinho has supported when the fans have turned on him at times this season.

In the last five Premier League campaigns Fellaini has committed the most fouls (238).
