Everton manager Sam Allardyce fears January signing Eliaquim Mangala could miss the rest of the season with knee ligament damage.
Mangala only managed 45 minutes of Everton’s 3-1 win over Crystal Palace earlier this month before being forced off with injury.
The 27-year-old was making just his second appearance for Everton after signing on loan from Manchester City in January for the rest of the season.
Allardyce hoped Mangala’s arrival would help bolster the left side of their defence but his stint at Goodison Park may already be over.
“The injuries this week were a blow, with Mangala in particular – that looks like it could be long-term, which is a great shame for him and for us because I think he was a very good addition to us,” Allardyce told EvertonTV, via Sky Sports.
Mangala endured a nightmare debut for Everton after finishing their 5-1 defeat away to Arsenal with a 4.94 WhoScored rating after committing an error that directly led to an Arsenal goal.
