Barcelona issue ultimatum to Liverpool's Brazilian attacker

Barcelona have informed Philippe Coutinho that they will opt against pursuing the Liverpool attacker if the Premier League side continue to snub their offers, reports the Sun.

Barcelona saw a £72m offer for the Brazil international rejected last week with the Reds adamant that Coutinho is not for sale at any price.

Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp is looking to build his team around the 25-year-old and will not entertain any offers for Coutinho.

That leaves Barcelona in a tricky situation, with the La Liga giants prioritising Coutinho in the summer transfer window, with the Blaugrana informing the Brazilian that if Liverpool continue to reject their bids, they will look to other targets.

Indeed, Ousmane Dembele remains a viable alternative to Coutinho for Barcelona, with the Borussia Dortmund star another top target for the Spanish side.

Barcelona are bracing themselves for Neymar’s impending departure for Ligue 1 outfit PSG after they triggered his €222m release clause and have eyed up Coutinho as a replacement for his compatriot, but they will instead turn their attention to Dembele if their pursuit of the Liverpool star fails.
