Newcastle are poised to sign Hull City midfielder Mo Diame after matching his release clause, reports The Times.
Diame, 29, has entered the final 12 months of his existing deal with Hull but now looks set to sacrifice a return to the Premier League with a move to Newcastle.
Newcastle have already signed six players and their expenditure could near £40m this summer with Diame’s impending arrival.
Only Abel Hernandez (21) scored more goals in the Championship for Hull last season than Diame (10).
