Arsenal boss eyes big money swoop for France star

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has made Lyon star Nabil Fekir his number one summer transfer target, according to the Daily Mail.

Fekir has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal in the past and is enjoying his best season to date for a Champions League hunting Lyon side.

Indeed, his WhoScored rating (8.04) is second only to Neymar (8.96) in Ligue 1 this term, with the 24-year-old scoring 16 goals and registering a further six assists.

Lyon are understandably desperate to retain his services, but could be inundated with offers should Fekir enjoy a hugely successful World Cup.

Arsenal are hoping a £45m bid would be enough to lure the attacking star to England and will look to swoop in early before competition becomes rife for his signature.

The Gunners spent big to sign Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon last summer and will hope the arrival of Fekir can spark an immediate upturn in form from the striker, who is currently sidelined following knee surgery.
