Sunderland are interested in taking Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart on loan, reports Sky Sports.
Hart’s time at the Etihad Stadium is coming to an end having been demoted to third-choice following the arrival of Claudio Bravo from Barcelona.
Everton, who were strongly linked with the England international, have ruled themselves out of the running to sign Hart.
The Black Cats are now in pole position to sign the 29-year-old, with the club in the hunt for a new goalkeeper after Vito Mannone’s elbow injury.
Hart appears to have already played his final game for City in the 1-0 win over Steaua Bucharest last week.
