Ozil must run down Arsenal deal to secure Manchester United move

Mesut Ozil has been advised to see out the remainder of his Arsenal deal in order to move to Manchester United on a free at the end of the season, reports Manchester Evening News.

The Germany international’s current deal is due to expire at the end of the current campaign and there haven’t been fresh contract talks with Arsenal since March.

Ozil is now widely expected to leave Arsenal but Arsene Wenger may push for a January exit in order to avoid losing the 28-year-old for nothing in the summer.

United manager Jose Mourinho is open to the idea of reuniting with Ozil at Old Trafford but isn’t expected to firm up any interest until the end of the season when there would be no transfer fee involved.

Since joining Arsenal from Real Madrid in 2013, Ozil has registered at least three more assists than any other Premier League player (43).
