Juventus edging Napoli in race for Valencia midfielder supremo

Juventus have moved ahead of Serie A rivals Napoli in the race to sign Valencia midfielder Andre Gomes, according to Tuttosport, via Football Italia.

Gomes, had previously been heavily linked with a move to Napoli but Maurizio Sarri’s side have reportedly now fallen behind Juventus in the race to sign the Portugal international.

However, both could be set to miss out altogether with Real Madrid and Manchester Untied also mooted with a move for the former Benfica midfielder, and given Jorge Mendes’ strong connections with both, he could point his client towards these two rather than a move to Italy.

The 22-year-old has struggled for consistency this season but he has still completed more dribbles than any other Valencia player in La Liga this season (44).
