Manchester United defender may have played his final game for the club

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw will visit a specialist after suffering damage to a ligament in his foot in their 1-1 draw with Swansea on Sunday, reports Sky Sports.

It would compound what has been a disastrous campaign for Shaw having been cast to the side by manager Jose Mourinho for the majority of it, with his United future plunged into further doubt.

Shaw couldn’t even last 10 minutes of United’s stalemate with Swansea on Sunday and Mourinho expressed his frustations after the game, revealing it would have to have been a serious injury for someone to come off so early into the game.

However, a long-term spell on the sidelines could spell the end of Shaw’s United career under Mourinho with no time left to get back into his good books in their remaining matches this season.

The 21-year-old was set for game time with United juggling Premier League and Europa League commitments over the remaining month of the season but his injury now means United could be without five senior defenders for the remainder of the campaign.
