Juventus set to take Cuadrado on loan

Juventus’ general manager Beppe Marotta has confirmed the Serie A champions will sign Chelsea midfielder Juan Cuadrado on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent deal.

Cuadrado, 27, has failed to make any impact on Jose Mourinho’s side since signing for £23.3m in February and has been heavily linked with a return to Italy all summer.

“He’s going to join on a season-long loan,” Marotta told Mediaset television prior to Juventus’ shock 1-0 defeat to Udinese at home on Sunday evening.

“Only six months ago, he was brought for €35 million and today this opportunity arose and we’ve seized it and we hope to finalise it tomorrow morning.

“It’s now up to [coach Massimiliano] Allegri to work out where the players will play.”

The Colombia international will now return to Italy, where he had so much success. In fact, prior to joining Chelsea at the start of February, Cuadrado completed at least 66 more successful dribbles (398) than any other player in Serie A in the previous five seasons.
