Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has identified Napoli ace Jorginho as the ideal replacement for Yaya Toure this summer, claims The Guardian.
Toure will leave City at the end of the season when his contract expires and Guardiola will move for Jorginho.
The Italy international has already been linked with a summer move to Manchester United but Jose Mourinho has reportedly cooled his interest in the 26-year-old.
City expect to pay in the region of £52m to sign the highly rated midfielder, as Guardiola plans to build on this season’s stunning league title triumph.
Guardiola is planning to make two major signings this summer and Jorginho features right at the top of his wishlist.
The Brazilian-born midfielder is widely regarded as one of the most underrated players in Europe and his arrival would only strengthen Guardiola’s options.
In fact, no player in Europe’s top five leagues averages more passes per game than Jorginho this season (98).
