Pepe has signed a new two-year deal with Real Madrid, according to Cadena Ser’s El Larguero programme, via Football Espana.
The 33-year-old’s existing deal is set to expire at the end of the season but he is happy to remain at the club even if he is not first-choice going forward.
Madrid have already announced a new deal for Toni Kroos and the likes of Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and Luka Modric are all set to follow suit, with Pepe joining the quintet.
Despite being thought of as a hot-headed defender, Pepe has only sent off in the league twice for Real Madrid since August 2009 and hasn’t been given his marching orders in any of his last 125 league appearances.
