Manchester City sent scouts to watch Luka Jovic in Frankfurt’s 4-2 defeat to Benfica on Thursday night, claims The Sun.
Jovic has emerged as one of the most sought after young strikers in Europe this season and is already being heavily linked with a summer move to Barcelona.
The Spanish side want to sign Suarez’s long-term replacement at the end of the season and Jovic has emerged as a leading choice.
Barcelona are not the only side interested in the Serbia international and could now face competition from City.
Pep Guardiola had scouts in attendance for Frankfurt’s defeat to Benfica, in which Jovic scored his 25th goal of the season in all competitions.
City already have Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus in attack, while Raheem Sterling has played centrally on the odd occasion as well this season.
However, Guardiola is weighing up his options and Jovic could emerge as a summer transfer target for the Citizens.
Only Robert Lewandowski (21) has scored more Bundesliga goals than Jovic (17) this season, while only Olivier Giroud (nine) has netted more times than the Serbian (eight) in the Europa League.
