Jurgen Klopp has left Liverpool sweating on his long-term future after stalling on a new contract, claims The Sun.
Klopp’s current Liverpool deal still has three years left to run but Liverpool’s owners want to hand the German a new six-year deal.
Fenway Sports Group are willing to hand Klopp a significant increase on his current salary after leading the club to European glory last season.
Klopp has transformed Liverpool into one of the best teams in the world during his time at the club and the board are concerned their European rivals will try and prise him away from Anfield in the future.
Bayern Munich and Real Madrid have already been credited with an interest in Klopp this year and Liverpool are desperate to keep him at the club for as long as possible.
Liverpool are, however, concerned Klopp will resist attempts to sign a new contract amid fears of burnout, as the 52-year-old values health over everything.
The Reds finished last season second to Manchester City in the league with an astonishing 97 points, which would have been enough to win all but the last two Premier League campaigns.
