Boca Juniors president Daniel Angelici has revealed a deal has almost been struck for Inter target Jonathan Calleri.
Inter have been heavily linked with a move for the Boca frontman and would seemingly be close to getting their man, who has also courted reported interest from Chelsea.
Calleri, 22, would spend the remainder of the season on loan at Bologna with Inter without any more room for a non-EU player in their current squad before linking up with his new teammates at the end of the season.
“He’s still a Boca player,” Angelici explained to Radio 950am Belgrano.
“But his situation has nothing to do with whether another player will arrive or not. For me, the sale is almost complete.
“Negotiations are at an advanced stage, we’re just missing the formalisation of some details which will be completed in the coming days.”
Calleri formed a formidable partnership with Carlos Tevez last season as Boca topped the Argentina Premier Division last season. In fact, the Argentine striker scored at least five more league goals than any of his other teammates last season (10).
