Madrid included anti-Barca clause in Di Maria’s United move
Real Madrid inserted a clause that prevented Angel di Maria being sold to rivals Barcelona when Manchester United shelled out nearly £60m for the Argentina international, according to Football Leaks.
It has now been revealed that United would have been forced to pay Real Madrid €50m (£38m) had they sold Di Maria to Barcelona or any other La Liga club within the first year of his career at Old Trafford.
As it turned out, The Red Devils did sell Di Maria within the year of his move, but to Paris Saint-Germain, where he is now flourishing.
Di Maria is currently listed in the top 10 rated players in Europe’s top five leagues this season, with only Mesut Ozil (17) having registered more assists than the 28-year-old.
