Atletico Madrid have announced they have reached an agreement in principle with Sevilla for the transfer of striker Kevin Gameiro.
Diego Simeone’s side have been keen to sign a new striker this summer following the departure of Jackson Martinez in January and had been hopeful of re-signing Diego Costa.
However, Atletico have instead turned their attentions to the Sevilla marksman and fended off competition from rivals Barcelona to sign the Frenchman, who will now undergo his medical with the club before signing.
Gameiro scored 16 goals in 31 league appearances last season but helped fire Sevilla to their third successive Europa League title with eight goals in the competition.
