Draxler reiterates desire to leave Wolfsburg

Long-term Arsenal target Julian Draxler has reiterated his desire to leave Wolfsburg after being turned on by the club’s fans.

Draxler, 23, came on as a late substitute in Wolfsburg’s 3-2 defeat at home to Hertha Berlin on Saturday and his involvement was meet by jeers from the club’s own supporters.

The Germany international confirmed he wanted to leave Wolfsburg in the summer, but a move away failed to materialise and the highly rated midfielder has since confirmed his desire to leave the club.

“I don’t think I need to yell anybody what [being booed] does to a person – it certainly doesn’t help you,” The Daily Mail quote Draxler as saying after the game.

“There’s no doubt it makes it hard for you to perform on the field. I can understand the fan, though. They have every right to do that. I said in the summer the way I feel and I stand by that.”

Draxler still has four years to remaining on his existing deal after being signed from Schalke to replace Kevin de Bruyne, but the Wolfsburg No.10 has struggled for form and fitness since making the move at the start of last season.

Only Thomas Muller (25) has attempted more shots on goal without finding the back of the net in the Bundesliga this season than Draxler (24).
