Hoffenheim turned down €25m bid for star striker

Hoffenheim rejected a €25m (£21m) offer from Chinese Super League side Tianjin Quanjin for striker Sandro Wagner, according to German outlet Kicker, via Get German Football.

The deadline for Chinese sides shut on Tuesday and clubs will now have to shelve their interest in players plying their trade in Europe until the window re-opens after expressing late interest in Wagner and also Cologne striker Anthony Modeste.

Wagner, 29, is enjoying a sublime maiden campaign for the Bundesliga surprise package this season and even reportedly turned down the chance to earn €10m (£8.6m) a year to remain with the German outfit.

The former Bayern Munich striker, who scored 14 goals in the league for Darmstadt last season, has reached double figures for the second campaign in a row, at least four more than any other teammate.
