Hull City announced they had completed deals to sign Rennes winger Kamil Grosicki and Villarreal midfielder Alfred N’Diaye just before the January transfer window closed on Tuesday night.
Marco Silva’s side face a real fight to beat the drop this season and currently languish bottom of the league and five points adrift of safety after results went against them on Tuesday evening.
Having lost Jake Livermore and Robert Snodgrass for a combined £20m earlier in the window it was important for Hull to strengthen their side sufficiently and they did so, bringing in seven new faces.
The Tigers reserved their most expensive January signing until the final day after landing Grosicki from French side Rennes in a deal worth a reported £7.6m on a three-and-a-half-year-deal running until 2020.
Grosicki impressed for Poland at Euro 2016 and has won nearly 50 international caps since making his senior debut at the start of 2008. He has struggled to establish himself as a first-team regular for Rennes this season and has actually made his best contribution from the bench, having played a direct hand in the most Ligue 1 goals as a substitute this season (6).
The 28-year-old was joined at the club by Villarreal midfielder N’Diaye, who has joined on loan for the remainder of the season. N’Diaye, 26, returns to the Premier League for the first time since leaving Sunderland in 2013 and leaves Villarreal after just six months at the club following a €9m (£7.7m) move from Real Betis.
N’Diaye completed more tackles and interceptions than any other Betis player during the 2015/16 La Liga campaign (183).
