England reject linked with Premier League pair

Championship winners Wolverhampton Wanderers and Premier League side Southampton are set to hand Joe Hart an England lifeline as they gear up to move for the goalkeeper, reports the Daily Mirror.

Hart missed out on a place in England’s World Cup squad after a poor run of form during his loan stint with West Ham that ultimately cost him his place in Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions team.

The 31-year-old has spent the last two seasons out on loan, with the England international spending time with Torino before his move to West Ham last summer.

The Hammers opted to not make his loan move permanent and Hart will return to parent club Manchester City, where he would be third choice behind Ederson and Claudio Bravo.

Wolves and Saints could look to revive Hart’s stuttering career, with the duo in the market for a new goalkeeper this summer.

Fraser Forster has underwhelmed this season and lost his place in the starting XI to Alex McCarthy, whose good performances have in turn attracted interest from Liverpool after he played a vital role in keeping Saints up.

Wolves, meanwhile, are looking to add Premier League experience to the squad after romping to the title last season and had been interested in Jack Butland, but could be priced out of a move for the Stoke shotstopper.
