Cavani reveals potential next destination after Paris Saint-Germain
Edinson Cavani has hinted he could make a spectacular return to Napoli when his current Paris Saint-Germain deal ends in 2020.
The Uruguay international is currently enjoying his best campaign to date for PSG and was rewarded with a new long-term deal at the end of April.
Cavani has spent the last four years with the Ligue 1 giants after leaving Napoli to join PSG in July 2013 in a deal worth £55m, but the 30-year-old has hinted at a possible return to the San Paolo.
“I had very special moments in their blue jersey,” Cavani told Sky Italia, via ESPN. “I think that this was the time when everything changed for me.
“My teammates and the fans made me feel legendary. It’s normal that you want to go back to where you were given so much and had such a beautiful time.
“For that, I say we will see at the end of my current contract. I don’t know what will happen after PSG but, if I decide to change clubs, I might choose to return to Napoli and then go back home [to South America].”
Cavani has been in tremendous form for PSG this season since being given the central berth in the wake of Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s departure last summer.
In fact, only Lionel Messi (35) has scored more goals in Europe’s top five leagues this season than Cavani (33).
