Jose Mourinho will recall Thibaut Courtois straight into the starting XI for their clash at home to Bournemouth on Saturday, according to the Daily Telegraph.
Courtois, 23, hasn’t featured for the Premier League champions since injuring his knee in training at the start of September, but has trained fully this week.
The Belgium international’s return would see Asmir Begovic return to the bench despite a series of solid performances in the Chelsea goal.
Begovic was brought in as Courtois’ understudy over the summer but has started in Chelsea’s last 17 matches in all competitions and while his team have floundered, his performances have been relatively good.
However, Mourinho isn’t looking to take any chances with Chelsea already 12 points off fourth place and the return of his No.1 goalkeeper could help sure up his leaky defence.
In Courtois’ first season as Chelsea goalkeeper last season only four other goalkeepers kept more clean sheets in the Premier League (12).
