Leicester have announced they have complete faith in Claudio Ranieri’s ability to turn round their current slump of form and steer the reigning Premier League champions clear of the bottom three.
The Foxes have made a disastrous defence of their Premier League title and are now only one point above the bottom three after losing each of their last four league matches.
Leicester are the first team in Premier League history that have failed to score in their opening five fixtures of the calendar year and there have been suggestions the Italian is on the verge of losing his job in what would be a dramatic change of events following their title triumph in May.
However, the Foxes have moved to offer Ranieri their assurances, although the dreaded vote of confidence usually only ends one way.
“In light of recent speculation, Leicester City Football Club would like to make absolutely clear its unwavering support for its First Team Manager, Claudio Ranieri,” a statement read on the club’s official website.
“While there is a collective appreciation from everyone at the club that recent form needs to improve, the unprecedented success achieved in recent seasons has been based firmly on stability, togetherness and determination to overcome even the greatest of challenges.
“The entire club is and will remain united behind its manager and behind its players, collectively and firmly focused on the challenges ahead.”
Leicester have huge fixtures coming up against relegation rivals Swansea and Hull in two of their next three games. The Foxes are also due to play Sevilla in the last 16 of the Champions League, which Ranieri deserves to lead Leicester in.
